Cool P67 motherboards

Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 Intel Motherboard

Citat:
Things here in San Francisco are starting to get interesting at this year’s Intel Developers Forum (IDF) as we already saw Intel's P67 motherboard, but now we get to see what motherboard giant Gigabyte is cooking up for that chipset. Gigabyte has a pair of their next generation P67A motherboards on display here at the show and that is fitting for the situation as IDF 2010 is all about Intel's upcoming 32nm Sandy Bridge processor. Gigabyte's current generation of P55A motherboards are very popular in the enthusiast and DIY community and Gigabyte plans on keeping that pace with their new Intel P67A motherboard series. The two mainboards that they had on display were the GA-P67A-UD5 and GA-P67A-UD7. We'll start by covering the GA-P67A-UD7 since it is currently the flagship board. Without further ado here is the GA-P67A-UD7 in all its glory.

Gigabyte's current generation of P55A motherboards are very blue and this time around Gigabyte has gone with black PCB's on the P67A motherboard line. The layout of the board is very clean and the gun metal black finish on the boards passive cooling looks nice.

The first thing you notice when looking at the PCI slots is that the GA-P67A-UD7 has four PCIe x16 slots on it. Gigabyte is offering both NVIDIA SLI and AMD Crossfire multi-GPU support on this board. This is due to the use of an NVIDIA NF200 controller that is located under one of the boards passive heat sinks. The board also features a PCIe x1 slot above the primary PCIe x16 slot and two legacy PCI slots for those that still might have a device using these slots.

The Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 motherboard has six SATA II 3.0Gbps internal headers and a pair of SATA III 6Gbps headers for those that want to use the latest and greatest SSDs and hard drives. You can also make out the LED post indicator and the color coded front panel connections in the picture above.

Gigabyte didn't mention what memory speeds would be supported on the GA-P67A-UD7, but we can see that the board has two pairs of DDR3 dual-channel memory sockets available on it.

The Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD7 has a 24 phase power VRM design that is said to be dual power switching. Notice the MOSFET cooler has the number 7 on it to go along with the naming of the board. Gigabyte will be using the upgraded black nickel plated LOTES LGA1155 socket on both the UD5 and UD7 motherboards.

Gigabyte was happy to point out that the heatpipe coolers on this board are secured by high quality tension screws that help increase contact pressure as pressure is important for maintaining proper contact to improve cooling. This also makes it easier to remove the factory cooling solution if the end user wants to upgrade to an improved cooling solution.

Gigabyte has color coded their P67A motherboards, so the higher end UD7 has gold accents and the UD6 has blue accents. Not only does it help distinguish what board you are looking at it also adds to the board and several Intel employees that were at the display when we were commented on how they liked the gold color.

The rear I/O panel on the GA-P67A-UD7 motherboard is has the usual connections, but notice that it has four SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports that run off a pair NEC controllers. This is a nice touch as many more USB 3.0 devices will be coming out in the months ahead and if you plan on keeping your system for a number of years, having four headers is a must if you ask us.

Gigabyte had this place card next to the GA-P67A-UD7, which included all the information they were willing to disclose at this time. With the platform not due to be released until January 2011 we are shocked that this much information is being shown.

Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5 Intel Motherboard

Citat:

Those that might not need all the high-end features found on the Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5 motherboard can go with a more budget friendly solution with the GA-P67A-UD5 motherboard. This board has the same black black PCB and cooling solution, but many of the features have been toned back or removed.

For example the P67A-UD5 has just three PCIe Express x16 slots, but only two are full bandwidth Gen 2 slots for graphics cards. Gigabyte still offers both NVIDIA SLI and AMD Crossfire multi-GPU support on this board, but with just two cards from what we were told. Also notice that the designers have chosen a blue color scheme to this board.

The Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5 motherboard has four SATA II 3.0Gbps internal headers and a pair of SATA III 6Gbps headers for those that want to use the latest and greatest SSDs and hard drives. We can also see in the image above the color coded front panel connections.

Gigabyte didn't mention what memory speeds would be supported on the GA-P67A-UD5 motherboard, but we can see that the board has two pairs of DDR3 dual-channel memory sockets available on it just like the GA-P67A-UD7.

The Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD5 has a 20 phase power VRM design that is said to be dual power switching. This board has four less power phases than the GA-P67A-UD7. Although not seen in the photo above we were told that Gigabyte will be using the upgraded black nickel plated LOTES LGA1155 socket on both the UD5 and UD7 motherboards.

Gigabyte uses high quality tension screws for cooler mounting on the GA-P67A-UD5 which is also what they used on the UD7. These help increase contact pressure to improve and maintaining proper cooling. This also makes it easier for the end user to remove the factory cooling solution if you ever want to upgrade to better, more aggressive cooling solution.

The rear I/O panel on the GA-P67A-UD5 motherboard is has the usual connections, but has just two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports and a single NIC.

Intel DP67BG LGA1155 Motherboard Pictures

Citat:

We got a nice little surprise here at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) 2010 when Intel pulled out their upcoming LGA1155 6-series chipset Sandy Bridge motherboard! This Intel P67 board is called 'Burrage' internally, but you'll know if by the retail part number of DP67BG. The Intel DP67BG is the very first Intel LGA1155 motherboard that we have seen in person and while we don't know the specifics on the board we were able to snap some pictures of the board.

Along the bottom edge we can make out three internal USB 2.0 headers in black and a single Firewire 1394a header in blue. If we are counting right it looks like this board will have 14 USB 2.0 and 2 USB 3.0 headers. Six USB 2.0 headers are internal USB 2.0 and eight are external. The pair of Super Speed USB 3.0 headers are external. We can make out three PCIe x1 slots, two PCIe x16 slots and two PCI slots on the board. It looks like NVIDIA SLI and AMD CrossFire multi-GPU setups will be supported on the board if licensing agreements are agreed to between the companies.

The Intel DP67BG 'Burrage' motherboard has a very clean look to it and looks like it will be an enthusiast mainboard as it is black, has power and reset buttons and an LED post indicator on the board.

Intel has stuck with the skull that lights up on the bottom corner of the motherboard, which is a nice touch. Intel allows you to turn off and on the lights for the skull in the BIOS, so no worries if that isn't your thing. The DP67BG motherboard has six internal SATA headers and we are guessing the four black ones are SATA II 3.0Gbps and the two blue headers are for SATA III 6.0Gbps devices.

Here is a closer look at the LGA1155 socket and the two sets of dual-channel DDR3 memory slots. You can also make out the 24-pin ATX power connector and 8-pin +12V power connector just above the CPU socket. Nothing too special here and you can see the board uses all solid-state capacitors.

The rear input/output (IO) panel looks pretty normal, but one thing missing with this Sandy Bridge motherboard is a display connector. It looks like this will be a higher-end motherboard and they won't be offering In this shot you can see that this upcoming Intel LGA1155 motherboard for Sandy Bridge does have two Super Speed USB 3.0 headers, but if you look close you can see the NEC USB 3.0 controller chip just below the first PCI Express x16 slot. This puts to rest all the rumors that Intel will have integrated USB 3.0 support in their chipset.

We'll conclude our coverage of the 6-series chipset here since the details are sparse, but we want to leave you with this shot of an Intel Sandy Bridge processor without the integrated heat spreader next to some of the Nehalem and Westmere processors of today.

We will keep an eye open for more Intel H67 and P67 motherboards as the show goes on!

Maximus IV Extreme (LGA1155)

ASUS Shows off Top-Tier LGA1155 Motherboard Lineup

Citat:
ASUS showed off its high-end socket LGA1155 motherboard lineup in London, including from its two top brands, ROG and Sabertooth TUF. The ROG Maximus IV Extreme, TUF Sabertooth P67, P8P67 Deluxe and P8P67 were on display. All four models are based on the Intel P67 Express chipset, designed to support upcoming Sandy Bridge architecture derived LGA1155 processors, or the 2011 Core processor family. Leading the pack is the Maximum IV Extreme. This board is literally bursting with features and is geared for extreme overclocking. There are no less than four PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slots, possibly driven by a PCI-E bridge chip, which allows 3-way and 4-way SLI/CrossFireX; four each of USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/s ports, and ROG-exclusive features such as ROG Connect, and redundant BIOS.

Next in line is the TUF Sabertooth P67. Keeping in tune with the TUF series' main feature of providing very high durability, the Sabertooth P67 uses ceramic heatsinks and high-grade components. For the first time, we're getting to see a protective scaffolding covering most of the board's area on its obverse side (we've seen it on the reverse side on older models). ASUS is calling it "tactical vest". This board only supports two PCI-E x16 devices, 2-way SLI/CrossFireX.

Next up are the P8P67 Deluxe and P8P67, two of the leading models from ASUS' pilot (main) brand. The P8P67 Deluxe features two PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots for 2-way SLI/CrossFire, and is loaded to the brim with connectivity features, including two SATA 6 Gb/s and six SATA 3 Gb/s ports, two USB 3.0 ports given out as front-panel header, and an enclosure that occupies one exposed 3.5" drive bay, providing front-panel access to the USB 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth, and 8+2 channel HD audio. The P8P67 is a slightly skimpier version of this. At the moment, pricing looks like around $300 for the Maximus IV Extreme, $220 for the P8P67 Deluxe, and $150 for the P8P67.

Znajuci Fuada, to mu dodje najnepouzdaniji moguci izvor. Prema najavama ce biti isti socket (LGA1155), ali nece biti backwards kompatibilnosti za ploche (na p67/h67 nece moci Ivy Bridge, ali ce Sandy Bridge moci na novu generaciju plocha - Panther Point).
