Hello guys. I'm a moderator for the gameplay bugs and mechanics section in the development forums, so I can help confirm some info in this thread.

As stated by several others, two daedelus will stack with each other, but diminishingly. Both items will have the same 25% chance to proc, but only one will work if they proc on the same attack. This means the real chance to proc a crit is 43.75% (formula is as others have stated above).

There are two differences between Dota 1 and 2 in how crits work. In Dota 1, when two crits proc together, the last acquired crit will be applied. In Dota 2, the crit with the highest multiplier will be applied. For example, if I have both Crystalys and Daedelus, and both proc, Daedelus's 2.5x crit will be applied.

The second difference is that unlike Dota 1, in Dota 2 criticals do not use Pseudo Random Distribution (in fact, nothing in Dota 2 uses PRD).


As for magic resistance, they do stack as well, but multiplicatively. Exception: Multiple magic resistance items do not stack with each other, only one item with the highest resistance will be applied. There is also no hard 'upper limit', though there are only so many sources of magic resistance in the game.

Example: If you have base resist (25%), Hood (30%) and AM's max level magic shield (50%), your magic resistance will be: 1-(1-0.25)*(1-0.50)*(1-0.30) = 0.7375 [73.75%]

Magic amplification (Veil of Discord, Ethereal Blade, etc) is also calculated multiplicatively, though due to a bug, it is currently calculated additively in Dota 2.
