PAL kao druga evropska alternativa NTSC-u(francuski SECAM je bio prvi) nije izmisljen zato sto se nekom tako cefnulo, vec zbog problema koje NTSC ima(otud i cuveno tumacenje NTSC-Never twice same color), SECAM-ovih problema sa preklapanjima boja, kao i zbog razlike u strujnoj mrezi koja se koristi na americkom i evropskom kontinentu(60Hz amerika 50Hz Evropa). Mislim da bi smo ipak trebali da zadrzimo raspravu na objektivnom nivou a ne da ulazimo u domen teorija zavere.

Da ljudi ne pomisle da ja lupetam evo citata da nisu samo tehnicke prednosti uticale na izbor vec i namerna nekompatibilnost:

French designed a system of their own - primarily for political reasons to protect their domestic manufacturing companies - which is known as SECAM, standing for SEquential Couleur Avec Memoire.

SECAM was widely adopted in the former Eastern Block countries to encourage incompatibility with Western transmissions - again a political motive. SECAM is further split between several variants.

SECAM was not developed for any technical reason of merit (as was PAL) but was mainly invoked as a political statement, as well as to protect the French manufacturers from stiff foreign competition. In that regard, they were highly successful !.....

PAL was developed by Telefunken, a German company, and in the post-war De Gaulle era there would have been much political resistance to dropping a French-developed system and adopting a German-developed one instead

Contrary to American Method. Eastern Block countries adopted this format for purposeful incompatibility with western transmissions, possibly also political reasons.
