"A report by German gaming magazine Gamestar.de has claimed that publisher/developer Crytek may be facing bankruptcy following poor sales of the CryENGINE and excessive development costs on Ryse. The full story is behind a paywall, but DSOGaming has published a summary of it (and translated from German) which explains that the company has been struggling to meet payroll, despite securing additional funding in April this year, and that many employees are actively looking to get out.
The development of Ryse was reportedly extremely behind just months before launch requiring massive costs to make it happen in time — and poor sales when it did launch just made things worse. Crytek’s G-FACE F2P platform has also reportedly flopped, as has their F2P FPS Warface.
Gamestar.de lists some companies as possible buyers of Crytek, including Wargaming.net, which would be interesting. Stay tuned for any further updates."

Baš nemaju sreće, prvo Ubisoft, EA upropastio Crysis franšizu, pa Microsoft hteo da ih zavrne za Ryse, i eto...

Nisam siguran da je u pitanju loša sreća. Far Cry i Crysis su im doneli slavu, ali oni kao da su ignorisali sve zbog čega su ljudi zapravo voleli te igre i počeli da prave sve linearnije i lošije naslove. Pored toga već duže vreme forsiraju neke FTP naslove i nižu neuspehe na tom polju, pa su onda sada uskočili u ovaj VR hype train... a taj je voz na jako klimavim točkovima.

Ako će pući, mislim da samo sebe mogu da krive, jer nisu održali svoje ja i kvalitet koji ih je na prvom mestu i uzdigao, već su podlegli svakom novom trendu (dumbing down, FTP, VR) i to neuspešno.

Crytek haven't paid their employees in Bulgaria in 3 months

Crytek haven't paid their employees in Bulgaria in 3 months and all workers in that office are currently owed 3 full salaries. The company is not looking to pay these salaries any time soon and have spent the last few months lying about the availability of this money in order to keep as many employees as possible.
The Yerli brothers (Avni, Cevat and Faruk) are now looking at the second delay in the last 6 months (after finishing up a delay of 2 months just before the current one) and the third payment delay in the last two years.

The former director of the Sofia studio, Vesselin Handjiev, left several months ago and the studio is entirely at the mercy of Crytek Frankfurt's leadership, which has proved to be unsuccessful in stemming the current bleeding for 6 months.

Anyone who has an offer or is otherwise considering joining Crytek is advised to steer their ship elsewhere, as the current situation is rumored to apply to all studios within the company, even after the closure and selling off of several of the Crytek studios around the world.

Crytek is closing its studios in Hungary, Bulgaria, South Korea, China, and Turkey.

So, where did Crytek get its sudden influx of cash to pay staff wages? One rumour we've heard is it came from Mail.ru, a huge Russian internet company that's buying Warface, Crytek's free-to-play shooter, and Warface 2, which is currently in development but not announced. We've heard Mail.ru will take over publishing of Warface in January, and there may be layoffs as a result. It's important to note that Crytek has yet to confirm this

Despite Crytek's continuation, staff remain upset with how the situation has been handled. Many have already left, but many have stuck around despite the late wages situation because they knew the German government would cover three months' salary if Crytek went under. January would have been the fourth - and thus uncovered - month of late wages, so many staff have tried to secure new jobs for the New Year.
But many are struggling to find work elsewhere. As one source put it to Eurogamer: "The German gamedev scene is pretty bad. Unless you find a job at id or Foundry 42, you will likely have to move abroad with family, so you keep hoping it will work out."

Doom je dokazao da za dobar singleplayer FPS ima mjesta na trzistu (znam da Doom ima i MP ali nije prosao zapazeno) tako da bi bilo bolje da upregnu taj svoj engine i naprave nesto poput prvog Crysis-a.

Prvi Crysis se nikada više neće desiti zato što je odlično demonstrirao šta znači kada se proizvod previše fokusira na pisanje istorije a premalo na zaradu i opstanak na tržištu. U trenutku kada su konzole počele da uzimaju maha Crytek je napravio PC ekskluzivu koja sledećih pola decenije nije mogla kršteno da se igra ni na toj jednoj platformi. A onda kada su došli sebi i shvatili da moraju da sakate levo i desno ono sa čime su se razmahali u kecu naišli su na otpor igrača kojima se to nije svidelo ili prosto nisu razumeli zbog čega Crytek mora da napravi kompromis između onoga što ih je proslavilo i opstanka na tržištu.

Jedina igra da valja od njih je FarCry 1 a ni on nije savrsen - sto se vise ide ka kraju igra je sve losija. Sto se mene tice, nikakva steta i da nestanu -Crysis je vise demonstracija endzina nego bilo sta drugo. Gigant poput Looking Glass Studios je izbacio neuporedivo kvalitetnije igre (besmrtne klasike kao npr System Shock 2 i Thief 1 i 2) pa je opet nestao, takodje Troika (VtM Bloodlines, Arcanum), Ion Storm (Anachronox, Deus EX1, Thief 3). Svih njih vise nema a ostavili su neuporedivo veci trag od Cryteka. Cryteka se za par godina maltene niko nece ni secati ako ne izdaju neku kvalitetnu igru - a nece, jer su studio "prezreo" i "afirmisan" da bi mogao da izda nesto originalno i zaista dobro. Drugim recima, osnivaci su uzeli lovu i, donekle, i slavu i zabole ih vise za development igara.

You probably remember the rumors at the end of 2016 that Crytek has not yet paid his employees on time. Guess what? It is almost March 2017, and we are still not paid. The last punctual salary on time came in April 2016, also 11 months ago! We haven't been given any money yet in 2017!

ngine creative director has gone last fall. Director of Production went in the summer . Audio director has lesft/ been fired in the fall (rumors ...). Engine business director went in february. Marketing Director was fired in January . Executive producer of all our vr titles goes in March.
